On November 29th, the Festival of Lights is back for another year of holiday cheer! Join us to kick off the fun at 6:00 pm on LaSalle Street and the 200 block of West Jackson Street. There will be festive floats, performances, and decorations making their way down LaSalle Street. The parade will then travel to the Main Street/Jordon Block Park area.
Mayor Hasty will open this special holiday ceremony, which includes performances by Friendly City Sound and the Shepherd Choir. After that, a dazzling fireworks display will light up the night sky!
Of course, it wouldn’t be the Festival of Lights without the famed tree lighting! Don’t miss out on this exciting beginning of the holiday season. The North Pole’s very own Santa and Mrs. Claus are set to make an appearance as well!
The Chris Kringle Market opens at noon on the same day. This open-air market is a holiday favorite of both locals and tourists alike. Find the perfect gift for a loved one (or a personal treat!) at any of the booths. You can find a variety of local vendors with unique, high-quality goods at the Chris Kringle Market. There will be snacks, clothing, and so much more. Plus, the list of vendors rotates every weekend, so you’re bound to find something new every time!
Walking through the Chris Kringle Market is truly a magical experience. The frosty winter air, glimmering lights, and scents of hot chocolate and other goodies embody the spirit of the holiday season. You can also make a visit to Santa’s house and meet him yourself!
