Book Summary: On Memorial Day 1958 in small-town Minnesota, the body of a
wealthy landowner is found floating in the Alabaster River. Investigation of the
murder falls to Sheriff Brody Dern. Even before Dern has the results of the
autopsy, suspicions and accusations mount as the town teeters on the edge
of more violence.
