Ottawa’s Restaurant Weeks and our Bite-Sized Interview series are coming to a close, but you’ll still have today and tomorrow (March 21st) to experience this celebration of community spirit, creativity, and cuisine! Find the specialized menus here.

Nestled away off the south side of Ottawa, Pine Hills Golf Club offers a scenic and peaceful way to enjoy your meals at their restaurant. We met with Chef Patrick Gavin from Pine Hills to see what’s on the menu for Restaurant Weeks. First, we got some insight into the history of Pine Hills.

“We have been in Ottawa since 2011. The Pike’s took over the golf course in 2011 and started the restaurant then. It has since evolved into our current offerings: full-service catering, restaurant, and events venue,” he told us.

Next, we got some details regarding the specialized menu options for Restaurant Weeks. Fans of Irish cuisine and St. Patrick’s Day food options are sure to enjoy this! You’ll find these items perfectly encapsulate the themes for Restaurant Weeks.

“This is one of the busiest two weeks for us with St. Patrick’s Day themed menu ideas. So we naturally thought it would be great to feature some new dishes featuring all things corned beef and cabbage. We featured an Irish version of our number one comfort food special ‘The Irish Couch Potato,’ and new Irish cheddar mac and cheese. We also created a Guinness beer cheese sauce for a burger topped with corned beef, and a corned beef hash burrito for brunch. Lastly a fresh take on a bruschetta with ricotta cheese, blueberries, bacon topped with arugula and balsamic glaze called the “Triple B Bruschetta.”

If that’s not enough for you, we also asked Patrick what his favorite menu item is. Maybe you’ll be inspired by any of these options for your next at Pine Hills! There are plenty of great choices.

“My personal favorite is the Irish cheddar mac and cheese. The combination of cooked cabbage and tender corned beef paired well with the sharp Irish cheddar sauce,” Patrick told us.

We hope you have been enjoying Restaurant Weeks – a celebration of local flavor, community, and creative cuisine. We’re so proud to be working with businesses like Pine Hills and the rest of our participating restaurants for an event like this! To close out our interview series, we asked Patrick about his favorite part of being a chef in Ottawa.

“I have been with Pine Hills for over 10 years, which speaks volumes about this family owned and run business. Ottawa is all about family, friends, and neighbors coming together, and food is one thing that unites us all. I love working at Pine Hills and I never tire of creating new fun dishes for our community!”

Many thanks to Patrick! Throughout this event, it’s been clear that when Ottawa’s community works together, we can do great things.
