The Run Today for Tomorrow 5k & Wellness Fair kicked off this morning at the Jordan Block. The Wellness Fair began at 8 AM and the runners were off at 9 AM.
Event Organizer and RTfT President Emily Hardee told us there were 355 participants registered for the event. The Wellness Fair hosts 40 vendors, with a plethora of mental, physical, and other wellness resources available. The OSF van is on site for free health screenings, along with other local organizations like the Youth Service Bureau, Arukah Institute of Healing, Perfectly Flawed, and more. All of these resources are of no cost, including face painting. Throughout the runtime of the event, various organizations will host programs and presentations on resources, wellness, and more. All of these go to support the eight dimensions of wellness: emotional, spiritual, physical, intellectual, social, occupational, financial, and environmental.
At the time of this blog post, the MC has announced that Run Today for Tomorrow has raised around $44,300 dollars for this year’s event. The sixth annual Run Today for Tomorrow event raised over $30,000.
We also spoke with some visitors from the Quad Cities who participated in the 5k. Sky Steph and Abi Swidergal gave us their perspectives on the event.
“Suicide Prevention and Wellness is always something to celebrate,” Sky said.
“Also in small towns like this, it’s very important to get the awareness out,” Abi said.

The Wellness Fair runs until 1 PM today, but you can always follow along with Run Today for Tomorrow on their website or Facebook page. Many thanks to Emily, Abi, and Sky for speaking with us!
