The Dayton Bluffs Preserve is holding its 7th Annual First Day Hike on New Years Day 2025. First Day Hikes are held in many parks throughout the country in an effort to help people “start the year off on the right foot.” Begun in Massachusetts in 1992, the concept of a First Day Hike went nationwide in 2012. Dayton Bluffs Preserve has held a First Day Hike since 2019.
Anyone can participate in the Dayton Bluffs event! Guided hikes will start at the Dayton Bluffs Preserve parking lot at 8 AM and again at 9AM and highlight the history and nature of the Preserve. No reservations are needed. Individual hiking is also allowed. A bonfire will be maintained, and the first 60 participants will be treated to a cup of hot chocolate!
The address is Dayton Bluffs Preserve, 2997 North IL-71, Ottawa, IL 61350.
