The award-winning Smoketoberfest is BACK! Join us on at the Jordan Block on Saturday, October 12 for the famed backyard cooking competition from 12 to 5 pm. Guests can enjoy free live music, rib tasting, whiskey, and bourbon tasting, and the exciting BBQ competition of course. As always, the judges will give out awards for the best dishes! Also, new to this year is the brisket cooking category! It will see the competitors begin cooking on Friday night. There are also plans to add a tailgate party on Friday as well! Make sure to regularly check back in for any updates.
The timeline for the event is as follows:
- Set-up begins @ 5 pm on Friday, October 11
- Chef/Team meeting @ 6:30 AM Saturday, October 12
- Cooking competition officially begins @ 7 AM
- Turn-in times:
- Chicken: 1 PM
- Ribs: 2:30 PM
- Pulled Pork: 4 PM
- Brisket: 5 PM
Not cooking? Guests can get $24 worth of food tickets for $20 until October 1. Menu to choose from consist of Ribs & coleslaw or Pulled Pork Sandwich & Coleslaw, other items available include Chili, Pulled Pork Nachos and Mac n cheese. There will also be whiskey/bourbon tastings priced at $10 for a glass and a tasting ticket entry fee ($15 after October 1).

There will also be the Old Rip Van Winkle Bourbon Raffle! For $20/entry, participants will have the opportunity to win a bottle of bourbon, aged 10 years. This bourbon is valued at over $1,500 dollars! Bottled at 107 proof and brimming with complex and often contrasting flavors, Old Rip van Winkle’s 10-Year-Old Bourbon is a scintillating and spicy expression of the Kentucky distiller’s versatility and willingness to push boundaries.
There are only three spots left! Luckily, registration has been extended to September 15th. Entry fees for chicken, ribs, pork, and brisket are $60 each. Or you can do all four for $200 total. People’s choice (ribs) is $20 (must also compete in one of the above categories.)
